Talking [FIXED] Synergy 1.3.4 causes X11 permission problems?

After installing Synergy 1.3.4 I started experimenting with it. In anticipation of a pretty bad storm I shut down my desktop completely. The next day when I turned it back on, wmii (my window manager of choice) wouldn't start and X froze.

After reinstalling dwm, I then tried using VirtualBox and that also wouldn't work.

I started googling for X11 permission errors but that didn't help me until I found some information about debugging X. I saw that a year or two ago, someone helped someone else fix their problem, but that solution didn't work for me (logging in as another user, logging out, then logging into my normal account).

Code:

I tried asking for help in #xorg on freenode and #synergy (also on freenode) but after waiting for a few hours it didn't seem as if someone was going to help.

This is half-fixed. The wmii issue was related to /tmp/ns.user.:0/ being owned by root. I just had to sudo chown -R user:users /tmp/ns.user.:0/ and wmii worked.

VirtualBox still will not open. I googled the error, but it only seems to apply to VirtualBox 2.x while I'm using 4.1.0. The error specifically is
Code:
Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.
The application will now terminate.

Callee RC:
NS_ERROR_FACTORY_NOT_REGISTERED (0x80040154)
Screenshot
And nothing appears in /var/log/Xorg.0.log after running VirtualBox. Also, no errors appear on the command line.

Anyone have ideas about this?

Sorry for waiting so long to post this, but this too has been fixed. There was another folder permission, /tmp/.vbox-$USER-ipc, which you MUST have permissions for. In my case, synergy had changed them ownership to root:root. A simple sudo chown $USER:$(id | awk '{print $2}' | sed -r 's/(\w+)=.*\((\w+)\)/\2/') /tmp/.vbox-$USER-ipc fixes the issue.

Sorry for posing such a bizarre question here.

Btw. I fixed it a few days after the last post.
