Switching Destops

I switched from the Gnome Desktop to the Xfce Desktop. Now I have to reset the X Widows System. How do I do that. My OS is Fedora 37.

What do you mean by "reset the X Windows System"? And why do you think you have to do it? You should be able to switch between desktops without doing anything else.

When I use the desktop switching app a message pops up telling that now I have to reset the X Window System in order for the switch to take effect.

What steps exactly did you take to switch from Gnome to XFCE?

I ask because I frequently switch among desktops (though, I must say, never on Fedora). I do so at time of login, and have never encountered a message like this.

That just means you have to log out and then back in.

Alternatively, press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace.
