SUSE 10.1 boot gives Black Screen in Failsafe mode
I installed SUSE 10.1 via Network (FTP) install. Everything went fine, but on booting I got a black screen, which I traced to the fact that I am using an Intel Motherboard with ATI Xpress 200 chipset, and I did not have the ATI driver. At this point, I could boot in failsafe mode just fine.
I read the tutorial blog on the ATI driver issue, and I realized I needed kernel-source package before I could proceed. So, I used the Network (FTP) to update my install with kernel development packages. The update worked fine. However, after the update, I get a black screen even in failsafe mode. Any ideas? My Intel Motherboard is D101GGC (x86_64 bit). The last line before the black screen in failsafe mode is: starting HAL Daemon done If I can boot in failsafe mode, I can then install ati driver package and be on my way. Any suggestions? |
I gave up and did a SUSE 10.1 Network (FTP) reinstall and then installed the ATI drivers using the blog tutorial, and everything is working fine now.
