Streamtuner & Javascript - Problem adding new station

Hi.

I would like to add a new radio station to my playlist in Streamtuner, but cannot work out how to find the url of the stream, as it appears to be managed using javascript.

The station plays fine through a browser.

The home page of the radio station is http://www.cope.es/index.php

There is a link in the top left, with the text 'Escucha en directo' ( http://81.19.96.186/cope/player/index.html ), which opens a browser window to play the content. Rather than pointing to a streaming url, this calls the following (from viewing the page source):

href="javascript:escuchar();">Escucha en directo.

I know next to nothing about javascript, but there appears to be a function declaration like this:

function escuchar(){
var ventanaPlayer=window.open("http://81.19.96.186/cope/player/index.html ","ventanaPlayer","width=360,height=280");
}
This url, http://81.19.96.186/cope/player/index.html isn't a stream(??) and I don't see that it can be read by XMMS, which is the player I am using with Streamtuner.

I have tried running nmap against the IP address to see if it was possibly being streamed on a different port, but the only ports open are 80 and 443.

Is this being streamed using javascript and http, and if so, is it possible to add the station into Streamtuner?

Any help would be gratefully accepted!

That page is a Flash-based player, where the player is masking the actual stream from you. If you load the non-Flash player from that link below it, and then open up the .asx file it provides you (which would usually play in Windows Media Player) you can find the link to the actual audio file:

http://195.10.10.107:80/cope/copefm.asf

Adding this to StreamTuner under the bookmarks was no problem, but XMMS doesn't seem to want to play it. I don't use XMMS personally, so it could be that I don't have it configured properly or it is otherwise missing some functionality to allow it to play WMA over HTTP.

This does open in MPlayer however, so if all else fails you can at least fall back on that. If you are using Firefox, you can also use mplayerplug-in which will play the embedded file right in the browser. But I guess if you wanted to use a browser, you would have just stuck with the Flash player.

Fantastic! I ended up using smplayer as you suggested, as I couldn't find a plugin for XMMS to get it to play the stream.

Thanks very much!

For anybody else who may be interested, to get this to work you may also need to install avifile (found it at http://pbone.net) to allow mplayer to read the asf stream, as Win32CodecAll doesn't appear to include the relevant plugin.
