Spell Checker
In the realm of the Evil Empire I use a software version of the Oxford English Dictionary whereby I can copy a word to the clipboard, switch context to OED and get the spelling confirmed and the dictionary entry.
What I would really like is an XWindow front end for ASpell that can, at least, let me paste a word to it and find out if the spelling is correct. I found a Python or a Perl script front end and it is confirmed as installed, but I cannot find any files that seem to be the script concerned. Typing aspell on the command line invites a file or pipe for checking, which is not what I want. Does anyone know of a nice little GUI that will do this? I don't want to run OpenOffice.org just to do spell checking! Regards Roy Leith |
In KDE the Kdict GUI front end to dict servers will do what you want. I use it and not aspell.

Thankyou. KDict does just what I want. It is even possible to pop it on to the taskbar (sorry, don't know its Korrect name).
