Question Specifing application launch directory for Nautilus

I'm launching an application from Nautilus (by opening an associated file). The application needs to launch from the directory being viewed but it actually launches from my home directory (~).

I have a .desktop entry file for the application which doesn't specify a PATH value, simply because there doesn't seem to be an option for "the directory I'm currently viewing". So I'm not sure if this is the solution. Creating a wrapper script doesn't seem to be an option because the application needs to launch from the directory which contains the file being viewed rather than a fixed location.

Is there a way to configure Nautilus to change its behaviour?

I should have mentioned:

Fedora Core 6
Gnome 2.16.3
Nautilus 2.16.2
