Mine is a Mandriva. I installed it from the 2007 CDs. Then I got keen and got it upgraded to 2007.1, everything worked well, almost. Then greed caught me and I dived for the cooker, 2008. Also I learnt installing a kernel, yes I am a newbie but learning fast, so no more that nube.
Now the problem is somewhere I did such a mistake that I lost sound. ASLA is there, it shows its running okay when it booting and when shutting down. But no music, no system sound, no screensaver sound effects, ohh yess but I get some sound sometimes, but music, not at all.
Before it was just fine and working very well.
Any ideas, hints, tests???

What desktop environment?

On any Environment it wont work. But when the Gltron game is run the music is played, but the system sounds never!!
