Skype - no screen sharing aftre upgrade to ver 4.3.0.37
I have a problem with screen sharing after upgrade Skype from ver 4.2 to 4.3.0.37. The share option is greyed or if option is avaliable, after click on "share screen" the receiving party does not has my screen display. I try to remove Skype and install again old one, previously good working version, but without positive result. Next strange thing is that I dont see users pics.
And another strange situation I noticed after upgrade. During my work on PC, I stream (using VLC) video stream from my Enigma2 based satbox. When I start Skype call, VLC stops playback video stream. In previous installation (before upgrade) it was possible to receive video stream using VLC and share screen via Skype, with VLC window inside of screen content. Any idea what's wrong?
My system is Mageia 4/64 bit.
Yes of course. I removed Skype from system using URPME Mageia command and than manually removed all "skype" and "Skype" named filed and directories including ~/.Skype. Then I install Skype again. But the result is still the same.
Even my own pic is not showing :-(

Reason: Syntax errors
When you say re-installed the old version (ver 4.2), how was that done exactly? from source? or a package repo?
(I don't know jack-all about Mageia or it's software package manager)
Also, try this. After installing Skype (any),
create a new user on the system and login as that new user, fire up skype and login with your usual ID ... What is the result?
So! We made a step ahead! I created second user on my system and fired up Skype. And it works properly!
But, during my previous tests I removed ~/.Skype dir and fired up Skype. Skype of course created new ~/.Skype dir. But after that there was not "share screen" option avaliable. Probably it is KDE related problem or Skype keeps another part of its config in different location.
The same result (non availability of "share screen" option") was when I use "dynamic" version of Skype, that is non-installer based package.
I installed Skype from Mageia repo.
Yep! Habitual You are charlatan! I got it! First I boot PC into text (non GUI) mode and made things like this:
cp -a /home/my_user/.config /home/my_user/.config.ORG
rm -rf /home/my_user/.config
Next I boot system in normal mode. ".config" dir was build from the beginning and WORKS!!!
But ".config.ORG" does not contain any file or dir with "skype" as a part of name. Now I copy back one by one subdirs located in ".config"ORG" to ".config" and will try to "catch" which one is responsible for my troubles.
So it looks like KDE related problem and/or new Skype version installer.
Many thanks for Your help. The error was in one of the file which is created automatically by KDE during start, located in ~/.config dir. I dont know which one. But now works perfectly!
hello everybody. Im new on this forum and Im having the same problem as mackowiakp.
I tried logging as guest in my ubuntu 14.04 and skype worked perfectly but....
when im logged as usual skype doesnt let me share screen or use my webcam simply doesnt see it.
I read all the post but honestly im not understanding what to do to fix it.
Please Habitual can u help me? After I log in my ubuntu with my password what i should do?
I installed skype from a package or something like that if im not wrong, skype 4.3 was not in the software center at that moment.
Please help me fix this i really need to use the webcam and share screens.
After i fixed skype one of my games stopped to work and is crashing at start.
The name of the game is Spheres and I got it from Ubuntu Software Center.
Tried to uninstall and reinstall but doesnt work.
Any way I can fix this? I would like to be able to play that game again.
OFC maybe the game issue has nothing to do with Skype but...
Thanks in Advance
Lorena
