Scrambled GUI startup!!!!!!


Usually I Boot Linux(Centos 5 and Debian) and Login Text mode but when I want to perform some Graphics related stuffs I just "startx". But the problem is after I startx I m getting a wierd Scrambled Screen( Colored Flashing lines ). I Have asked many forums and googled a lot to find out a Fix but no one helped me out. So I'm here crossed my fingers so that someone will get me a solution to fix it!!!!!! Ppl do help me out!!!! I m using a Intel d845gv Board and Chipset.

It sounds as if the refresh rate that you video card is trying to use is incompatible with your monitor.

Sometimes this also points to a GPU with heat problems or damaged graficcard or buggy/wrong display driver.

So How can i set the values of Refresh rate!!!!!!!!!

You will have values in the "Monitor" section of your xorg.conf file that are HorizSync and VertRefresh. These ranges must be valid for your monitor. If you don't know what these values should be, search Google for those two words along with some that describe your monitor (i.e. vendor and model type).

Ya the values in the xorg.conf do match the ones provided by the vendor but my problem is not yet solved!!!!!!!!

go to init level3 and type system-config-display
