Sceernlock switches off monitor permanently thereby forcing me to reboot the machine

Hi all. From last couple of days i'm facing a weird kind of problem. Im sing fluxbox and xlock to lock the screen. Now whenever i lock the screen the monitor goes off after some time[how to changes this in linux?]. so if you unlock the screen within some specified time[i guess its ~15/20 mins] its fine, but sometimes what i've noticed is when i try to switch on the monitory by moving the mouse, it'll not start i.e the monitor LED just keeps blinking, that means there is no signal from the CPU, i don't know whats the issue, in which case i'm forced to push the hotkey/Reboot key of the cpu manually, which really irritates me. Can anyone please let me know whats the issue. I must make it clear that i've never faced this kinda problem when i was using XP in the same box.
I'm using FC9 2.6.26.3.29.fc9.i686, samsung SyncMaster591s monitor. Any idea whats the bug. Thank you very much.

Try disabling power management for your monitor, and see if that helps.

alas don't reboot, press ctrl+alt+backspace and it shoult re-bring up the monitor - from there hit ctrl+alt+f1-f6 and quickly type in ur username and pw - u may need to press the above command a few times and after like the 4-5 time the monitor should stay on...

thanks for your response. but i'm afraid, it didn't work(alt+clt+backspace) . One thing i noticed is that, the keyboard stopped working, it seems like that to me atleast. this is because bydefault the "numlock" was on, so i thought of changing it thereby monitoring the corresponding LED. But I was surprised when nothing happened , even the other similar keys like capslock didn't work. I think this is the root cause of all. It might be that even the mouse was not working during taht time i.e when the monitor was switched off automatically. It again happened today and frustratingly I tried all the options and was forced to reboot. Is it something specific to the kernel or any other issues. Please help me fix this, as this is really killing me/mytime. Thank you very much.
