rpmDB error - How to solve problem?


While installing any tools with Yum command I am getting the following error always.

rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
error: db4 error(-30977) from db->close: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery

Please suggest what should I do?

Clear yum's cache directory (/var/cache/yum) of all directories, do not worry they will be re-built the next time you use yum. And follow the advice here;

Yes you are right, I needed to repair the rprm database which when I did, it started working again. Now Yum is working.
