root displays at 1600x1200. Non-root stuck at 1152x864 (RH 2.6.18-128.el5)
When anything changes, my project install new disk image on our computers. This happens several times each year. Usually without incident. The H/W has remained unchanged for years. This is the first image that's caused me display problems.
Before I start posting the specifics of my computer/monitor/installation, let me describe the problem. The Problem: When I log in as "root", xorg.conf is properly processed and my display is set to 1600x1200. When I login as a non-root user i'm stuck at 1152x864. Our SA can't be bothered with a problem as trivial as this, so I'm on my own to get this fixed. This is my new installation: Linux version 2.6.18-128.el5 (mockbuild@hs20-bc1-5.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-44)) #1 SMP Wed Dec 17 11:42:39 EST 2008. Help!!!! |
As your non-root user, what is the output of 'xrandr' ?
