RHAT+VNC: gnome-terminal "forgets" copy-paste after long time opened

Hello!

We use RedHat at work accessing its servers from a PCs through VNC. I use many gnome-terminal
sessions (tens of them, each for specialized task) which are opened 24/365 (at least
hope to, unless power outage longer than UPS ability takes down the whole system).
I noticed that initially, the "copy-paste" works fine in the gnome-terminal
but after VERY long time of terminal not being used (weeks/months) it starts to "forget"
how to copy paste. At first, the text selecting by mouse LMB and pasting it by middle button
stops working, although I still can use the Ctrl-Ins for copy and Shift-Ins for paste.
But after some more time the terminal forgets even this method and can no longer "copy-paste".

After some searching I saw an advice to uncheck in the "VNC config" tool the "Accept
clipboard from viewers" and "Send clipboard to viewers" options, I did it but still,
the gnome-terminal can't "copy-paste".

Our RedHat is quite old:

Code:
uname -r
2.6.9-78.ELsmp
(I know it's old but it can't be currently changed), the GNOME version is 2.8.0

Does anyone knows if newer RedHat/Gnome version solved this problem or it persists
in new versions too?
If it persists, are there any solutions for it?

TIA,
kaza.

For context, Gnome 2.8 was released in 2004, and until the last 2.x release in 2010 there were twelve 2.x releases of Gnome and 45 releases of Gnome Terminal - just for 2.x

Why were none of those applied?

What exactly has been stopping the unsupported system from being updated at some point in the last decade?

Except this little annoyance it just works so why fixing something that's not broken and pausing the work?
On my home PC, when I saw what a horribly unproductive thing GNOME3 is when it replaced the GNOME2 I switched to KDE.
But at work we must use RedHat and when recently two new servers have been bought and RedHat 8 installed on them
I was told by our IT that there is no KDE on RedHat 8 (I guess, not in standard installation anyway) so now
those who're using the new server have a GNOME3 GUI which is (IMHO) much less productive than my ancient GNOME2.
