Renaming Desktop Dir?

Has anyone every renamed their /home/user/Desktop/ directory to a lower case (d)esktop?

I hate having capital directories and I was wondering if I can do this w/o messing up anything on Gnome or Linux? Can we force Linux to create "desktop" rather than "Desktop"?

Only thought is create a link of Desktop to desktop. You will have both but desktop will point to Desktop.

Yeah - don't really want both. I can deal with "Desktop" but I was wondering if there was any alternatives.

I think there is a way to do this with KDE, but I can't remember. I'll have a look when I get home for you

Its very easy to do in KDE. In GNOME, try running gconf-editor and see if there is an option in the gconf registry to change the name of the desktop directory.
