Regarding .kde configuration files

Dear All,

How does .kde files are generated? How to set the default configurations in .kde files?
In /root/.kde/share/config/kickerrc, I want to set

[KMenuButton_1] FreeSpace2=0

I want to make it work perfectly. Help me in this regard.

You just edit the file with any text editor.

And it seems like you are running X/KDE while being root. Very very bad idea.

Can some-one tell me where it is documented that a particular program users a particular configuration file. I ask because 'kpersonalizer' did not have any effect on the "Eye Candy" settings, which I wish to change in the hope that KDE may work faster.

What file is supposed to be updated by kpersonalizer?

Thank you
