Raspberry OS - Can't change background wallpaper
So I'm having so issues with my Pi4, at first it didn't want to log into linux and was coming up with an "OH NO! something went wrong" window. After following several tutorials, I think i narrowed the issue down to the desktop display manager. I reinstalled a lot of things and finally it booted in to the Pi version of LXde. However since then I've discovered things aren't working at they should.
LXappearance which I used to managed the theme, no longer works. It will load up, but clicking apply does nothing to the desktop. After installing gnome-tweaks, I was able to get the generic Raspberry pi theme removed as it gets a little grating after a while.
However the default "appearance settings" panel only seems to partially work, i can change font sizes etc, but I can't change the wallpaper. I can select and image, but nothing happens.
Really hoping someone can offer some suggestions, other than format my HD and reflash a new install of Raspberry OS.
