Problems moving files with Konqueror under KDE

Trying to use Konqueror to move folders with sub folders and files from Home folder to an external USB drive. But after being moved, there will be subfolders with files missing. Would this have to do with "permissions"? If so, what am I failing to set up?

Also, I have used KDar to produce a backup file in a Backup folder under Home and then tried to use Konqueror to move the *.dar file to an external USB drive and it says it cannot be copied to the drive. Does Konqueror look at permissions inside a *.dar archive file and not move it if permissions are wrong? Or is this some other problem?
What confuses me is that Konqueror will copy this *dar file to another SATA drive on the computer without any objection.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I am running Mepis 8. What is the easiest way to find the version of KDE this is included on this distribution?

It's almost certainly not a permissions problem. If you can see the file with Konqueror, then you can read it. If you can read it, you can copy it. It sounds like you may have a hardware problem, or your USB drive is full, or it's out of inodes. Do you know what filesystem is on your USB drive? If it's any ext drive could you post the output of this command when run in a terminal (after replacing FOLDER with the path to where your drive is mounted)?
Code:
df -i FOLDER

About copying the archive file to the USB drive: Your question about the file system got me the answer on why the archive file would not copy. The USB drive was FAT32 which has a 4G file size limit and my archive file is much larger than that. So that issue is identified but still need to understand why Konqueror drops files

Unless there's some bug in konqueror, there are a number of reasons why konqueror will not copy a given file. The size is one of them, permissions issues are possible, it could also be due to the file type. Remember that fat32 only supports regular files and directories. Any other kind of file will not be copied: links (both soft and hard though I am not sure if it would deference them in this case), named pipes, sockets, device nodes...

However, konqueror should complain if it can't copy a file, I think. Not sure, I don't use konqueror since long ago.
