Printer Not Printing with HPLIP
 
Hi.

I have HP MFP 1005 and linux desktop running CentOS 5.3. I tried to configure this MFP with the help of HPLIP software ver 3.9.4 obtained from HPLIP website.

During configure it says that "python-dbus" is not installed. I searched almost every where but could not find python-dbus package. Although dbus-python is installed on the system.Also when it comes to running hp-setup during the install procedure, the printer attached is not detected. We have to set up the printer manually as directed in the install procedure.

After that whenever a print command is issued, nothing gets printed. On running lpstat -t it shows following error:

Unable to start filter "foomatic-rip-hplip"- No such file or directory.

Hi I am new at this I am trying to install hplip on Xandros had the simalur problems did notice in HP questions have to unistall HPOJ.Hope this helps. Iam now going to post my ?

You don't actually need hplip to run an HP printer: it just provides debugging tools and ink monitoring, etc. I had to remove it because it kept taking over Sane and shutting it down because it didn't recognise my Cannon scanner.

I had exactly the same problem --- CentOS 5.3 desktops ---not able to use HP MFP 1005. Tried the latest available hplip ver 3.9.4 and ran into the same errors shown by you.

Nothing to worry -- Latest is not always the best !

I removed hplip 3.9.4 and instead tried with hplip 2.8.10.

Every thing started working perfectly !!
Printing and scanning - all are working perfectly OK !!
