Print problem - PDF files, Deskjet815c, Evince, Ubuntu 8.04

The printer is an HP Deskjet 815c, USB connected.

Printer hangs trying to print from Evince, typically at the end of the first page. Print job never finishes. Same file prints fine on same printer with XP.
This is Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04. Yes it uses CUPS.

Ideas?

Are you using the latest HPLIP printer driver? Here is a link. I just installed it in my 32 bit Kubuntu 8.04 to support an all-in-one HP appliance. It works great and the supporting applications are very helpful.
