PPPoE connection for GNOME

Is there some PPPoE connection software for GNOME? I use gksu pon dsl-provider, but this is very inconvenient, as it has no status indicator and I must type the root password each time, which I'm not sure is a safe way to connect to the Internet.

gnome-ppp

or wvdial

and why don't you think its safe to use pon?

it's up to you to make any connection as secure as you want... but everyone basically starts with an insecure connection to their provider.. heck, these days we can't even trust our own isp's.. they way they work with the cops and government.
