On-demand remote access for Linux?
I need to remote in to an end user's machine to provide support. She's an 85 year old woman, so configuring her firewall and establishing her machine as a remote desktop are just a little beyond her reach. I'm exclusively on Linux at home, so Windows Remote Assistance isn't an option either. And since I'm doing this as a favor, purchasing NetOp On-Demand just isn't worth it.
Anyone heard of an on-demand remote assistance solution for Linux? |
rdesktop is a linux RDP client so it is possible to connect a linux PC via remote assistance but only if it is windows XP pro. Home addition does not have this capability. There are alternatives like http://www.tightvnc.com/
You will still need to setup the software on her PC. |
How about the "VNC viewer" which comes bundled with some linux distros(eg Fedora Core ) . . .. . . but u will also have to install the "VNC server"(you get for Windows Systems also) on her system to use that.
