Using Fedora 35 KDE and Thunderbird 91.4, I can no longer send from 2 of my 3 Verizon e-mail accounts (one of them is fine). The problem started about 3 months ago with one of the 3 and two months ago with the second.
Firebird's error message shows: "Sending of password for user xxx.xxx@verizon.net did not succeed. Mail server pop.verizon.net responded [SYS/TEMP] server error. Please try again later."
Messages can be received from those two accounts, but not send. Using the accounts from the browser shows no error. Of course, the passwords have been checked and re-checked.
And it's confusing because one account is perfectly fine with Thunderbird. I had no problems when F-35 was installed in October.

Shouldn't you use an SMTP rather than a POP server in order to send messages?
Anyway, this is what I found: Verizon Email Retirement. That announcement is over three years old already.
Thanks for the reply, Shruggy. I tried SMTP (POP3 is the default) with the same results. I've been checking the account settings on T'bird against the one that works, but they seem to be the same (except for the name, which reflects the account name accurately).
The error message I get on re-try is:
"Sending of the message failed.
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again."
Have you tried logging into the Verizon webmail for those accounts and sending an email, just to verify that the problem is on your end and not on theirs?

I did, Frank. I just got onto the account at AOL mail and changed the password using the web-site. I noticed that the mailbox was pretty full with e-mails that I had been forwarding to a working account, so I got rid of them just in case some limit was reached. Now I think I have to wait a bit for the change to work through the system. After a bit, I'll try to use Thunderbird again with the new password to see if that works. Fingers are crossed.
The only update is that I have a workaround. I accessed the accounts online and made sure that the two that were not working forwarded the mail to the working account. That seems to do the trick... for now.
