Nvidia drivers

I have downloaded a nvidia install package to my fedora10 desktop. Problem is I need to configure my x driver to allow it to run so that I can have duel monitors on my system! Could anyone give me some tips on how to get this sorted as it would be a big help to me! init 3 just seems to crash the system everytime I run it! what is it that I seem to be missing here? cheers

init 3 should not crash the system, but it should kill the X server leaving you in a text console. If it does not work for some reason you can change the /etc/inittab file to boot directly into runlevel 3 without starting the X server. Just edit this line:
Code:
id:3:initdefault:
then reboot and launch the nvidia installer.

There's several options. Easiest is to boot the liveCD. That's what I did, then from USB key, or CD: install it onto the mounted HD.
