Nvidia driver installation causes screen issues

Hello,

I have a dual (2x19") display configuration on my linux box. The issue began after the nvidia driver installer. I blacklisted nouveau, installed the proprietary driver, and made sure nv was no longer being loaded upon boot. The nvidia driver is installed and running, but my screens are all screwed up!

When my pc boots, only one screen is recognized. The screen that is recognized also has the desktop down-sized(looks like aspect ration was changed for widescreen), but the mouse can move around on the entire screen area. Xorg.conf shows the display is set to 1280x1024 for both displays.

Also, the menu bar is entirely screwed up. Each reboot kept adding an additional instance of the Logout and Date/Time buttons. Now there are 5 instances of the date/time and 6 instances of the Logout button on the Menu bar and the Applications and Places buttons are gone!

I've also fully uninstalled the nvidia driver several times and removed nouveau from the blacklist, and all that does is allow for my second monitor to be recognized. The downsized and menu bar issues remain on my main display.

If anyone could shed some light on this issue I would be very grateful. It is becoming quite frustrating!

It might be helpful to someone if you posted the distribution you're using, including version, the desktop, the Nvidia driver version, Nvidia hardware and the contents of Xorg.conf.

I ended up removing .config/dconf, rebooted, and that fixed my desktop.
