No sound through inbuilt speakers
 
I have IBM Thinkcenter desktop pc which have inbuilt speakers. I can play songs in windows but no sound while playing in totem. How to fix?

I am using Mandriva 2008

Hi and welcome to LQ.

Check what sound card you have by using the command
Code:

/sbin/lspci | egrep -i "multimedia | audio"
Also try running alsamixer (or any mixer e.g. kmix) and see if the volume is not muted (especially the PCM and Front).

The output of the command is :

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

I also checked the alsamixer. Nothing is muted there. THe problem still there.

Any help?
