Network Connection Loss And USB Connection Loss.

I don;t know why, but with even different hard drives, I found my USB and other mouse connections didn't work until I reconnected the mouse to an extra USB 2.0 port which I keep for the printer and external HDD...

I also lost my net connection, even with trying a spare Network card and the same USB 2.0 port as above.

I don't know what's wrong, maybe part breakage, from unplugging the power sometimes?

Until it is fixed I am down to one computer.

I'd suggest checking to see if it is a hardware failure. If you can at least log in, do so and then plug in a mouse or better still a USB stick/drive into the port that seems not to work. Does the mouse or stick/drive work now?
If not, try getting a live CD version of Ubuntu or similar and boot from this. Does the mouse work then? If it still doesn't work then it's most likely a dead USB port.

You might want to check that the USB connector is actually connected on the motherboard and isn't loose.
