Need assistance installing TuxGuitar
I need some help installing TuxGuitar.
I extracted it but im not sure what the readme means when it says Code:
$mv TuxGuitar-* /home/*/install_dir |
The /home/*/install_dir bit refers to where you've installed the software, e.g. /home/steve/tuxguitar. So you've be moving all of the files with names that start with TuxGuitar- to that directory.

there are no files that start with tuxguitar all there is build-linux.xml, build properties, build.xml and some folders when i try to do make build *** No rule to make target `build'. Stop. |
OK, I had a look at the archive and they're referring to moving the extracted directory. For example if you downloaded TuxGuitar-0.8-linux-gtk-x86.tar.gz and wanted it under /home/steve/apps, the commands would be:
Code:
$tar -zxf TuxGuitar-0.8-linux-gtk-x86.tar.gz |
thank you!
after extracting and understand what the readme what telling (due to your help) i ran in the console Code:
/home/usr/Tuxguitar/tuxguitar great i dont think suse likes "$" now is there a way i can make an icon to desktop so i dont have to type this everytime? edit** sometimes linux just ends session randomly any ideas? |

two new problems arose. No sound in tuxguitar and since it runs off of java i need to install some java sound stuffs. Next problem---im trying to install Kguitar (just uses MIDI sound and I installed that through yast) just to see which one is better and i use the configure make and make install commands. configure works but when i do make and make install i get an error Code:
usr@linux-z5yk:~> su |
On the TuxGuitar doc page they give the following advice for getting sound working (you'll have to change the paths to those used on your system):
Code:
Make sure, the package javax.sound is correctly implemented on your Java virtual machine. TuxGuitar is written under Sun Java(TM) Development Kit (JDK) 5.0, if you have installed more than one JVM in your system, you can use one of these environment vars: JAVA or JAVA_HOME and run TuxGuitar. |

About the kguitar requirements, somebody else here (a Suse user) will have to help with the required packages... |
