Multi-Display Debacle (Just can't seem to get it working right.)
I was the fortunate recipient of a new machine at the office. It's nice! 16G RAM and a 6-core Xeon processor. It also came with an ATI graphics card that supports 4 monitors. Sweet! But all is not so great...
I have installed Fedora 17 and I prefer to run KDE. The monitors are all plugged in and working, but there is weirdness. I had to swap the cables around between monitors 2 and 3 because the display manager always wanted to have them ordered 1,3,2,4. I'd really like to make #2 my primary display, also, instead of having to move things the entire length of the combined display. When I make that change, though, some of the screens magically get changed into clones. It seems that the display manager in KDE has some serious shortcomings.
I'm not afraid to edit the xorg.conf file directly, if that will help, but so far I have seen nothing change in that file that would lead me to believe it makes any difference.
Can someone point me to a resource that will help explain how this is supposed to work?
