MATE DESKTOP : How to fix tray icon ?

Hello,

I need to fix the firewall applet icon in the tray the red icon I'm using the icon theme Tela-Manjaro-Dark I checked the Tela-Manjaro-Dark folder in the ~/.icons and in /usr/share/icons and the firewall applet icon is normal gray not red. Is there some config file in the Mate DE to make the correct reference to Tela-Manjaro-Dark Firewall-applet icon ?

I thank you all !

Just a thought "icon is normal grey" Maybe it's red because it's alerting you to an issue? Check program or click the icon and see if there's a message, or something needing your attention before just changing it because you don't like the way it looks.

Hello my friend, there is no warns. I noticed this problem after change the icon theme but I back to Tela-Manja-Dark and reboot the pc and still this red icon, I'd like to change it even if there are some messages because this red icon is not part of the icons theme.

Sorry. You may have already caught this, I've struggled in the past getting the theme components just the way I want them. If/when I do, I click [Save As] and create my own "costume theme". Maybe add a date and save it each time I change it, just in case it doesn't turn out how I thought... I can go back to how I started.

Hope you get it straightened out, I understand your frustration.

Ok, I got your point but do you know where is the config file in the Mate DE that make reference to each icon ?

I don't have the answer you're looking for. I'm pretty sure it's not specific to mate. It's set by the theme, probably theme.index or gtk.rc file. But I haven't looked for some time. Maybe of these are linked. Often in icons or themes directories there's named default where it "saves" the current one. /usr/share/pixmaps also has app specific icons.

Sometimes "things" don't fully change until you log out and back in (not reboot) - I know you shouldn't have to, and it's not generally necessary. I'll see if I can dig around more sometime later.

Since nobody seems to have a direct answer...

You need to find out which icon the software refers to. That's tricky.
Then you need to find out if your current theme has to this icon, and if it's the right one. Sounds to me like they're misnamed maybe?

I would start by switching to an icon theme that does it right, then try to find the relevant icons in that icon themes folder structure. Could provide some clues.

and since you still haven't gotten a direct answer...

Generally system icons are referred to by themes - icon themes in /usr/share/icons or ~/.icons Some applications provide their own specific icons often install in /usr/share/pixmaps

Changing the icon from red to gray should be a function the program it's self - providing notification to the user. This may not be provided by any theme. Have no idea what firewall you're have. I have a some notification area program icons that "provide their own". This may not be what's going on in you situation, but there's a possibility, it's just a coincidence about changing themes.
