Mandriva 2007, Wine and the "libXxf86vm.so.1" error...

Hi gurus,
I've recently been getting back into Linux after holding off for several years, and have gone with Mandriva 2007 64-bit which I have been fairly impressed with.

HOWEVER, I've been trying to run Wine from an RPM compiled for Mandriva 2006 64-bit in Mandriva 2007 64-bit, although on trying to run any applications Wine quits with the following message...

">libXxf86vm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
Unknown error (127)."

I've done an enormous amount of Googling on the subject, but to no avail. Anyone know how to get this library to co-operate?

Cheers,
Chameleon2k1

I've had the exact same problem (Mandriva 2007 free edition, x64) My solution was to install the trial of crossover office, that still works ... but wine still gives me this error. I've tried to copy the libXxf86vm.so.1 from the /lib64 folder where it is located to the /lib folder, but i get another error "wrong ELF type: ELF64" or something(can't check it, I'm on windows XP atm)... Trying to download and install the file hasn't worked (so far) either. Any suggestions?

Mandriva 2007 issues

Hey guys,

Mandriva is the first distro i've used in a while. Way back I used Red Hat and Fedora Core. I'm having a lot of issues. First of all I had a hell of a time trying to get XGL to work. I got AILGX to work pretty easily with the built in radeon drivers, but I'm interested in getting cedega to work, so I wanted the proprietary ATI drivers. After installing these drivers, no 3D desktop options were available. This led to me having to download the kernel source, go into runlevel 3, and manually enable Direct Rendering for ATI Radeon cards. After I did that I could turn on XGL. glxinfo reports that Direct Rendering is enabled. I installed cedega, and it passes all the tests except for the first one. It says something is wrong with my OpenGL. I don't really get it or begin to understand where to start with that issue. Anyway, my next task was just to install basic wine so I could use the Windows AIM and install Steam for use with Cedega. I opened RPMDrake through the Mandriva Control Center, and searched for wine. Nothing. I tried downloading the Mandriva 2006 RPM and installing it and i got a missing driver error. This is all summary of what's been happening over the past few days, so I dont have the exact errors to post. So, I uninstalled wine and downloaded the source. ./configure, make depend, make, make install. After that when I try winecfg I get:

Code:
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
err:imagelist:ImageList_ReplaceIcon no color!
Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
The X11 driver is missing. Check your build!

I'm not really sure what's going on or if I should try another distro. Any replies would be appreciated. Thanks!
