make: *** [Makefile.in] Error 1


hi
i want to make a package and this error appears:

when i want install automake-1.10 :

[root@localhost ~]# yum install automake*
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
Package automake16 - 1.6.3-14.noarch is already installed.
Package automake - 1.10-6.noarch is already installed.
Package automake17 - 1.7.9-11.noarch is already installed.
Package automake14 - 1.4p6-15.fc7.noarch is already installed.
Package automake15 - 1.5-22.noarch is already installed.
Nothing to do


what can i do?

automake-1.10 is already installed in your system.
So either unistall and then install this or install later versions if available.

Fedora 8 : 'ls /usr/bin/ | grep automake' ... prints :
automake*
automake-1.10*
automake-1.4*
automake-1.5*
automake-1.6*
automake-1.7*
.....

hi
i reinstalled automake-1.10 but it didn't work!
i want to insert po directory and translate the gnuchess package.i do it with gettext.after doing necessary changes i ./configure it and when make it that error appear.

ls /usr/bin/ | grep automake:
automake
automake-1.10
automake-1.4
automake-1.5
automake-1.6
automake-1.7

i make this package on another system and that error didn't appear.

I guess you installed packages goes to one folder, where as ./configure is checking in another folder.

Please check this.
Make a soft link to the original file, if this is the issue.

$ ./configure --help
and see if you can specify specific automake features, such as location.
