Mail Client

I've just found out that my university's email is not strictly web based, so now I'm looking for a client. I plan on moving away from KDE in the near future (as soon as Slackware 11 is out), so I can't use KMail. Recommendations?

Also, any recommendations in my emmigration from KDE?

Well, if you are going to gnome, then I would suggest evolution.

Mutt and Pine are great if you want command line clients (I restrain from using the word minimal, as Pine has more features than most GUI clients).

If you want something across all platforms, or GUI's, then how about mozilla-thunderbird?

I would suggest Evolution and Thunderbird.

I prefer Thunderbird, as it works the same across all platforms. Given that I use MS Bimbos at work and Linux at home, I like the uniformity. Also, I simply prefer the straightforward, yet powerful interface.

I've looked around a bit and it seems that Thunderbird for normal use and pine for SSH/non-X days is what I'll probably use. I plan on trying Enlightenment for a while at least. Has anybody had this setup (Thunderbird/PINE and E17) not play nice?

I don't see a problem with such a setup, so go for it. :)

I tried PINE once, back when I was a teen. You know how we all were... we experimented. I mean, it was a [i]power[i]. It was freedom. So yeah, I did try PINE. I was just a kid; no harm was done. But I didn't inhale!

sylpheed-claws is a great GTK email app that is a lot lighter than Thunderbird.

Check out Evolution 2.6.3, it has tons of features, syncs with your PDA ( Most of them ), and gets you PIM functionality ( if you need it ).
