Looking for a tiling WM which is easy to configure

Hi All,

Have been using Xmonad, which has some great features but it's configured by a Haskell config file (not straightforward).

Would appreciate recommendations on other WMs which support tiling and which can be easily configured (for example, don't require to learn an unusual programming language).

Cheers,
Mike.

Many many seem to like awesome. It definitely is easy to configure.
Personally, wmii was best for me.

there's only on wm. it's name is wmii. i still use 3.1. although it has some drawbacks it's like coming home . best point is, you don't have to configure it. it's good as it is. look here: http://imgur.com/93aVe.jpg

other alternatives (in preferred order):
- awesome
- dwm
- ion3

It hasn't. You can do something along those lines, with a bit of work. Some people use FvwmProxy to do some tiling, but fvwm is not a tiling WM.

Most options have already been commented. You could use stumpwm if perl is more natural to you, I think no one named it.

DWM is probably the easiest tiler to configure in my opinion. Though to change configuration, you must edit its source and recompile, but it's fairly straight forward.

EDIT: Oops, didn't realise this was so old...
