Login / Welcome screen re-setup

Have a nice clean FC6 setup, setup Enlightenment D17 as the desktop. 1st few runs worked great, then added some new features. One of which was the login image change. You get the "have to reboot for this one" so left it alone, played and shut down last night.

This am, started and just stopped at text login screen. Backed down to run level 3 all the one's I know with the gnome setup's etc all run under X so I am left to post this.

I tryed to find what /where but no good, and no errors in the messge file. So where does FC look to see what image it should use and / or how to just replace it back.

thanks

Update on above. It seems it's not just that. I never tried the obvious, startx after login. As root, I got a black dekstop (gnome) with a blank panel, and the 3 default icons. The start menu was added and any x setup app did nothing.

As my user, I got my gnome dekstop also, both panel bars but neither were accessable nor was anything else with the mouse.
