Hey guys sorry to bother you on this crap but I'm tired of W10 don't feel secured enough but thought I'd tried Linux Mint 17.3 would are your thoughts on Linux Mint I use chrome with avast security addon for my personal (banking) and firefox as my other (facebook) etc
I think so. Linux or Windows it's also making sure you use the browser correctly by not saving passwords and session data, or allowing every site to grab every cookie available. I don't know the chrome browser, unless you meant the chrome OS. I do use firefox with noscript and adblock. Those work for me. I'm also a proponent of MINT DE
I'm not too sure. The problem with Mint is that it was created to be open much more than other distro's for users to be able to use multimedia. Security is a collection of many things. The applications in windows and linux tend to be how hackers get in. If you use this install for any other use it leaves the possibility to be hacked or data compromised.
Having used both Windows 10 and Mint 17.3, my conclusion is that they are both secure enough for typical everyday use, with reasonable measures of caution taken regarding passwords, firewalls, nasty emails or web links etc. Windows is slowly getting rid of the initial bugs and becoming more attractive in terms of performance and security. Linux Mint is also performing well and easy to use, although due to computer limitations, I had to change it to elementary OS.
It appears that Chrome is slightly more secure than Firefox - nevertheless I use Firefox in Linux and haven't experienced any problems.
m$\ma¢ is suspected to be the "admin" but in a capitalist market are only as good as "paid"-"professional$" so "security ..." as many put "... is a process*$$ not a product!"
