left-click on desktop opens Kmenu!

I'm running the latest KDE 3.5.9 on Opensuse 10.3 and I have the following weird behavior:
when I left-click anywhere on the desktop (except on an icon of course), the Kmenu shows up, and the cursor goes to the search box at the top of the Suse-style Kmenu. I have to hit Esc to close the menu.
This is really annoying as it means I cannot drag a net to select several icons at a time.

In KDE Control Center:
Desktop -> Behavior -> General -> Mouse Button Actions
change Left Button to "No Action"

Yes, that did it!

Thank you very much Ophirg; that's exactly the solution.
