LAVA 730G USB modem not detected in ubuntu 12.04.

I need help in installing and configuring a LAVA 730G usb modem on ubuntu 12.04. there are usb drivers that came with this modem in a inbuilt flash storage(virtual CDROM.) the drivers r specifically meant for ubuntu, in a debian package format but i don't know how to install it. i am attaching here the folder containing driver files.

I'm not sure, but I think that you have to install the build-essential meta-package (You need a temporary internet access to install it), before installing the .deb driver. Do you have an INSTALL or README file too into the driver folder?

Hello posix04, I installed the following driver packages using the deploy package command at the terminal, that is dpkg -i package.deb and somehow managed to connect to the internet on ubuntu
dkms_2.1.1.2-3ubuntu1.1_all.deb
fakeroot_1.14.4-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
hspa-modem-dkms_1.02.35_all.deb
patch_2.6-2ubuntu1_i386.deb

all of these packages installed successfully except the hspa-modem-dkms_1.02.35_all.deb which installed with a error message anyway it solved my problem and i can go online on ubuntu.

however here i have another question for u that how to install the vlc media player on ubuntu 12.04.1 i tried both of the methods of installing, the terminal and ubuntu software center for the online installations but it replied with some dependency related error msgs. so i did the manual download of the required packages but that too resulted in the further problems of unsatisfiable dependencies. i don't know what to do next is it better to install the most recent release of ubuntu.
