Konsole turns blue, locks up

I have Ubuntu 8.04 with both Gnome and KDE installed. I use Gnome, but for some reason I have been using Konsole as my terminal emulator. Once in a while it quits responding. Nothing I type is echoed. When I try to kill the window, it says that the application is not responding. The white parts of the window become pale blue. After 30 seconds or so it recovers and works normally for a while. The time between incidents is quite variable.

Does this sound familiar at all? I would like to know what's going on.

Meanwhile I have switched to gnome-terminal. We'll see if the problem continues.

Such a thing has never happened in Kubuntu-8.04. I use both konsole and konsole (kde4).

i have same problem on my opensuse 10.2 installation and Gnome,
may have something to do with hardware?

Can anyone tell how this can be reset, without reboot?
i tried:
1) reset (on /dev/tty1)
2) init 3 (normally this system runs in level 5)
3) .....

No problem with gnome-terminal

I'll follow up my original report. In over a month of use, there has been no problem with gnome-terminal when using gnome.

Just to be contrary, I switched over to KDE yesterday. Now I'll see how konsole performs in that environment.
