KDE4 Taskbar does now show up on start

I have just installed KDE4 using packages. I use 2 monitors in twinview. I used the nvidia-settings app to set up twinview. It worked till a reboot. I belive some settings got messed up and the taskbar or launchpad does not show up any more. I treid removing the entire KDE4 with --purge option and reinstall it but the same thing happened. Why is it? Or how can I solve the prob?

Righto Guys,
I too am having this issue, I cannot remember making any changes past upgrading from F8 to F9, I am now using which ever version of KDE came with it, I can't believe my stinking luck, I had major issues previously with F8 when X would not or could not detect my monitor settings, one day following an update it all worked with just a few settings, so stupidly I got an F9 disk on the front of Linux Format, used the upgrade option so as to keep my settings, it all appeared to work fine, except that I thought I had a problem with my graphics output because the taskbar went black.....
Anyways ramble over, I have done as suggested previously and have added a user, great I added the user, their desktop is all standard and working.
Now what do I do, mine is still missing the taskbar, are the suggestions going to be along the line delete myself and recreate myself as a user?

If thats the case I need to understand what has happened, I can't see it's acceptable to have to delete yourself as a user, what if the same thing happened to the admin account?

Cheers all

I'm not sure what the problem is but KDE 4 is still pretty new and there may be many bugs. As such, Ubuntu have warned potential users accordingly.

If you need a reliable desktop, you should stay on the KDE 3.5.x line until KDE 4 reaches a level of maturity suitable for your needs. For the time being, it's perfectly acceptable to come across some issues if you want to be on the bleeding edge.
