KDE typematic (key repeat) rate

I am wondering how I change the rate for repeating keys under KDE?

I'm slow, and if I "think" while typing, I manage to get duplicate key presses.

Thanks much for the pointer.

I have the same problem, I tried to set it in the /preferences/keyboard, but that didn't get it slow enough so I rebooted & went into the BIOS annnd set it there(you'll have to look for Typematic setting). Took several tries but I finally got it set to where I could live with it :)

Ah, do BIOS is the source for KDE's settings? Apparently.

For a virtual terminal, without KDE, the command is kbdrate. That appears to have no effect on KDE, however.

I don't think the BIOS has much effect(if any), but at least(in my case, Ubuntu ver 8.10 x64) it seemed to get me some improvement, I still have to back space a fair amount & am still looking for a better solution, will post here if I find :)

In a KDE terminal, start kcontrol from the command line.
Navigate to Peripherals - Keyboard - Keyboard repeat.
You can change the Delay and the Rate.
