Question KDE ignoring xorg.conf...

While trying to get my 64bit Intel desktop system up and running, I did a core install of Debian Etch, the installed the xserver core, followed by the KDE core. The installation following the xserver install asked me to select the modes I wanted my desktop to run in, so I selected the two that my LCD manual recomended, 1440x900 and 1280x960. The second mode is sized to fit by the monitor's hardware, and the first mdoe is the native resolution. KDE however, refuses to use these and always tries loading in 1440x960, resulting in loss of my taskbar and such. Upon examining my xorg.conf file, the only mdoes entered are 1440x900 and 1280x960, but it won't boot in 1440x900. I can login and set 1440x900 and everything is great, but upon logout or reboot, I am back to 1440x960. How do I correct this? I have an nVidia 7600 and am using the "nv" driver until I can get a patch to make the official drivers work in Etch 64bit.

Try this:
  1. Edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file
  2. Save the changes as root
  3. Then press Ctrl + Alt + Bkspc

What should I edit in the file? The file is already configured properly.

I am on my Windows machine (used primarily for gaming) right now but I will load it and paste the file later tonight when I have time.
