kde help center, help

Running kde 3.5.2.
How to get the kde help center to display help files?

For example if I search for kplayer help it returns "no documentation available for /kplayer/index.html". The kplayer docs are in /usr/share/doc/HTML/en/kplayer in .gz format. Saw some suggestion of installing htdig followed by running 'build search index'. The details tab now shows "warning unknown locale".

The main frustration at the moment is the documentation for screenkast. What ever happened to good old man pages?

Forgot to mention this problem is with debian/Mepis. Think I may be misunderstanding something. Clicking on help in kplayer opens kde help center which in turn looks for index.html. This doesn't seem to exist where the other docbooks can be found.

Unfortunately not every app has a help file or even a man page.

When that happens you have to rely on Google to find the info.

KPlayer user manual

One of the first things I did when I started learning Linux was bookmarking app manuals.
