KDE Desktop Glitches on Inspiron 1501 Kubuntu, ATI x1100

Hello,

I've got a Dell Inspiron 1501 with an ATI x1100 card in it. I installed Kubuntu Linux (Gutsy) on it. I'm getting glitches in the lower right hand corner of my screen, and they are the same every time. They look like two little "plaid barcodes" and they sometimes flicker and change depending on what applications I have running. It "seems" to be linked to Kontact and Konquerer, they show up a lot of times when there's a tooltip or something.

I've found that running the ATI Catalyst software and identifying the monitor makes them go away temporarily, but they always come back. It seems to be an overlay as they don't show up in a screen shot. Anyone got any ideas on what it is? I've included some Flickr links to a cell phone picture, and a screen shot showing they don't show up on a screen shot.

Any help would be appreciated, it's very annoying.
