KDE Activities

I've been googling around. I found this link in another thread here ( http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...de-4175493675/). I have been trying to find a use for activities in KDE but I just can't see it. What is the point of activities versus virtual desktops. Based on the link I can't see anything other than widgets and wallpaper for each activity?

kde activities let you have different configurations where virtual desktops can't: keyboard layout, default path, not sure about keyboard shortcuts, plasmoid, wallpapers, etc;

it's like having two different users logged in at the same time; you can't move applications between activities like in virtual desktops

I'm in a very similar agreement to you Tadaen. I thin they're important, to give choice like Gengisdave mentions, but personally i only use one activity, and have zero desire to use any more.
One thing that annoys me about activities is the panel. I think that every activity should have a different panel setup or at least that option, but that is not possible. If it was, then perhaps i would designate different activities to different workspaces.

I also stuck at inability to change panels and icons for different activities and lost my interest in them. I don't care about changing wallpapers and 'hiding' a window in another activity only annoys me. Activities don't seem to allow you to change anything beside those.
