Colour quality and bluring seem to be separate issues; which is the problem?

The choice of colours is arguably not very attractive, but that is an issue of what colours that you choose and if you don't what you have, you should change it.

The menu that you have displayed looks sharp and not blurry at all (maybe that's not how it looks on your computer?) which seems to show everything being set up to be sharp; it wouldn't be sharp if you had set up a resolution that was different from your monitor's native resolution, but that may not show up in a screenshot.

OTOH, your background 'wallpaper' is blurry. This is because you have chosen a wallpaper that is rendered in a blurry style. If the problem is that you don't like this wallpaper, change it.

Hi,
Its about the color quality. U will see that if u look at the taskbar? looks like 8bit colors and i dont know where to change that to 32bit color.
Maybe my videocard is not recognized in kde 4.2 but that would be odd because it worked fine on kde 3.5 wich is using the same os version.
I dont think it has anything to do with the themes..

Agreed: Your taskbar is very badly rendered, but KDE4 is still in its infancy. It will improve but meanwhile this sort of nonsense is the reason I am staying with KDE3.5.x

You also can stay with KDE3.

Ahhh, the pixelated bit on the taskbar....yes that's nasty.

I'm on kde 4.3 (was previously on 4.1.x and 4.2.x) and I don't remeber anything like that, but I've normally got the taskbar in transparent mode, so maybe I wouldn't.

I know that there have been problems with kde on top of (X on top of) some proprietary video drivers, but the complaints have been more about speed. or lack thereof, rather than rendering artefacts. Is there anything non-mainstream about your video subsystem?

Beyond that, newer is better with kde 4.x. sad, but the low number versions weren't all that great and the improvement has been quite rapid and I'd be the first to admit it still has some improving to do to be a polished system.
