Is there a difference between Compiz and Beryl?

Hi, I know that the two have reunited, but the only difference I see is that Compiz has a Mac like Panel. As a sub-topic, how can I get that panel? I have Beryl up and running, so that's not a problem I don't imagine

They were built by different people, that's the difference I guess. Last time I checked you got more or less the same "results" using either one of them.

Are you sure the "panel" is really from Compiz? There are other options, for example gDesklets (for Gnome, and another similar program for KDE) lets you add a desktop widget that looks like Mac OS X Panel, and it's got nothing to do with Compiz.

Well I'm going off of their screenshots, http://compiz.org/Image:Peel.jpg in paticular. What would KDE's gDesklets counterpart be if you know?

I think you're looking for something like kooldock or ksmoothdock or kdocker or maybe kiba-dock or ...... but definetly a docker not a gdesklet
