Ion3 startup and F keys
hi, I am wondering if there is a way to automaticlly start (after login) a few apps and put them into predefined workspace windows? for example, if I have 3 windows in one workspace, can I start firefox in one, htop in another one, and just a terminal in the third one?
and also, I am wondering is there a way to use F keys somehow or do I have to make my own bindings for 'old F keys' such as F2 for rename, and F5 for refresh? thank you |
Yes, it's possible, I believe, but how to do it depends on the desktop manager you're using. You need to provide your distribution and setup so that we can more effectively answer you.
However, I don't understand your second question at all. What do you mean by "using the F keys" in this situation? Please read the first link below this for more advice. Thanks. |
I am using Ion3 window manager and arch distro. The thing is - ion3 binds its own keys on F1-F12.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with that window manager. I know it can be done with kde and it's kwin manager though, so there's probably a way to direct windows to a particular desktop there too. You'll probably have to do some research.
And I still don't quite understand what you mean by the F-key thing. You don't "bind keys to F1-12". F1-F12 are the keys, and you bind commands to them. Binding keys to commands is another thing each desktop has it's own configuration system for. |
yes, you are right... I explained it wrong. I meant binding commands to F keyes.. but I thought it would be clear =)
ok, nevermind, thnx |
