Installation of Programs from Gzipped files in SimplyMepis


Dear All,
I've SimplyMepis and I've downloaded some programs which were in tar.bz or tar and I want to install them but when I click them it opens like a zip file and I can't find any installation file in them. Im a Newbie and doesn't know how to install programs or application in Linux.

Kindly Help

Such tar files usually contain a README or INSTALL file with instructions how to install the application.
