Install drivers of redhat on ubuntu linux 10.04

Dear sir,
Is it possible to install Graphic card software that supports RedHat linux
on Ubuntu linux..

acid_kewpie 09-29-2010 04:54 AM

you couldnt' use the drivers directly, no. Well some binary drivers may work at an X level, but you need to provide more information about what drivers etc... I woudl be extremely confident that if a Redhat driver exists for a device, an Ubuntu one also will, so you should find that, if indeed you need any at all... does it not work by default? What are you actually doing? what is the card?

i am using Intel 82845G graphics controller..
So the Cd came with the drivers for RedHat linux.. so can i use the same for Ubuntu

acid_kewpie 09-29-2010 05:03 AM

you won't need drivers for it at all, it'll work out of the box with nothing extra.

Thank you Chris..

You will not be able to run compiz on that GPU. Compiz currently works with nvidia, intel, ATI, and some VIA GPUs.
