Import messages into KMail-Trinity from FossaMail?

Hi,

I've tried experimenting with this, Googling this, and searching LQ including "Click Here To Find Similar Threads." No solutions found.

I have been using FossaMail for quite some time and I have a lot of info there. Because of a compatibility issue with the latest Lightning Calendar on the latest FM version, i was unable to access my calendar. Fortunately, I was able to install earlier versions of both and export my data.

I am using TDE on MX-16 64-bit. Sunbird did work correctly with my Lightning Calendar. But, it keeps crashing after about 10 seconds. I searched online and it seems to be a common problem. Since SB is not longer maintained, apparently it is having problems with the newer versions of Linux.

Orage will also import the dates. But, it will not show additional information I have about various appointments.

So, I tried Kontact-Trinity. Calendar in Kontact-Trinity does show all my information originally entered in Lightning.

I have also successfully imported my addressbook from FossaMail to Kontact-Trinity.

But, there is a problem on KMail-Trinity. It gives the option to import a profile. But, it profile.ini file for FossaMail doesn't show up when browsing the FM directory.

I have a list of folders with various emails sorted in FM that I would like to import into KMail-Trinity. But, "Import Messages" is grayed out. I cannot figure out how to make it active.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

The secret is to convert .eml to kmail's MailDir format. Here are a couple of articles to read which should help do that.

You could also try installing Thunderbird, which understands .eml format, import your mails, then try to export them to MailDir format for kmail.

SOLVED! Thanks bigrigdriver!

The Import tool on KMail-Trinity does not seem to work.

I did as you suggested and got my emails into Thunderbird. I did not use a tool, though. I simply copied the folders into Thunderbird's Mail directory in /home/.Thunderbird and Thunderbird recognized them.

I used the Import/Export Tool add on to export from Thunderbird to my /home directory.

That's where the hangup was.

I tried /home/username/.local/share/local-mail. But, that is not where KMail stores its emails.

KMail-Trinity mail storage is under .kde directory, not ,local. There is no .tde directory. You want:
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail
I merely copied and pasted the folders into mail and stsarted KMail and there they were!

Thank you very kindly for your help.
